Crime Statistics

The following sections will link you to LAPD crime statistics for the City of Los Angeles. We have also included links to Web Sites containing information on crime trends throughout California and the United States

But for even more detailed info go to this web site for a private company that for $9.95 you get the 1st CrimeCheck report and $7.95 for subsequent reports (at time of order), you will receive the only address-specific crime risk report available.  CAP Residential CrimeCheck™ provides crime risk information that's superior to ordinary crime statistics – because it's specific to your home. Your property will be plotted on a color-coded crime risk map, providing you with a total crime picture of your property and your neighborhood.

Sex Offender Locator (Megan's Law)

This online tool provides the general location of classified sex offenders. The map provided on this website displays the general whereabouts of registered sex offenders, classified as either "serious" or "high risk". "Serious" sex registrants are required to register with law enforcement if convicted of at least one felony sex crime. Additionally, "high-risk" sex registrants create a unique group as they pose a greater threat of re-offending based on their prior criminal acts. You can search by address or area and surprisingly there are many more than you think (for example we learned that there are 2 "high-risk" within 1 mile of our office!).

Once you find out that there may be a few in your area then you need to visit the local police or sheriff's office and use their computer to get their name and exact address along with known aliases; age and sex; physical description, including scars, marks and tattoos; photograph, if available; crimes resulting in registration; county of residence; zip code (based on last registration).

To locate the nearest sheriff station go to this Web site. The information is updated daily by the Department of Justice and is viewable in 13 different languages: Arabic, Armenian, Cambodian, Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.

You may also check to determine if a particular sex offender is a "high risk" or "serious" sex offender by calling the California Sex Offender Information, a 1-900 telephone service at 1-900-448-3000. There is a fee of $10 per call for checks on up to two names.
